Dream Team, Best Suppliers from my Wedding in Ireland.

Our Wedding was amazing… I know everyone loves their own wedding, and we are no exception. I had a perfect day and it was all down to good planning and an excellent team. As I have had a lot of students and friends ask about the wedding and ask for contacts I thought it best to just write up about it for those planning a party or wedding in Ireland.

We had a marquee wedding in my parents’ home. Rob and I got married legally on Friday 30th August in the Civil Registry Office and then had the most beautiful Spiritual Ceremony on the Saturday 31/8/13. (I love the symmetry of the date!)

Here is a list of all the contacts I used for the wedding, they all come highly recommended.

Food/ Catering:

Eunice Power (Chef) & Grace (Floor Manager Extraordinaire)  http://www.eunicepower.com/

What more can I say, these two women and their team ran the show. I stepped aside from planning and became the bride and they seamlessly ran the wedding – from check-ins leading up the wedding to the layout and design of the marquee, the drinks reception, obviously the food and then the second day BBQ. Eunice’s Food is renowned, and it lived up to and surpassed everyone’s expectations. Everyone enjoyed a feast not just of taste but visually too, all the wonderful dishes brought guests together and made the environment so enjoyable for all! Eunice is also a mastermind of contacts and resources and was a huge help with wedding prep. I could call her with a query and she would sort it with ease… I always felt calm with Eunice and the planning in the lead up to the day.

Grace was the star of the show, she was on call to us all and everyone I chatted to had been looked after by Grace. I thought she was just giving me extra attention due to being the bride, but no, we all got the star treatment! Not only that but she is great for the chats, she was back the morning after… for the 2nd day set up and joined us for a cuppa and a natter. I am writing this post because Grace was in a neighbour’s house for another wedding and she popped in to catch up. Really these two are a wonderful team and I cannot recommend them more highly!  Such nice ladies!

Spiritual & Celtic Monk:

Dara Molloy    http://www.daramolloy.com/

I had always wanted a Spiritual Ceremony for our wedding so when I found Dara online I was thrilled. He was so accommodating and really adapted the ceremony to our wishes. He can provide you with many different layouts, depending on what you want – length, style, words, blessings. We met with Dara on the boat out to Inis Mor on the west Coast of Ireland (where he lives) and he went through what we could have and also changed a few things that suited Rob too. I could have “gone to town” on the Spiritual stuff but we all made sure it had balance for both Rob and I and for all our friends and family who would be joining us. I really think this was the highlight of the day and a unique ceremony that I do believe resonated with everyone regardless of their beliefs.

Hand Fasting Cord

Claire Richie http://www.bindingties.co.uk/

I loved designing and collaborating with Claire for our Hand-fasting cord. Hand-fasting is a traditional Celtic marriage custom. I had our cord made with lots of natural materials – Leather, hemp, suede, lace and silk. It also had lots of crystals and charms that represented the qualities we wanted to bind into our marriage. Claire was a super help as we collaborated all by email. She understood what I wanted and delivered a beautiful piece or art work that can now be displayed in our home as a reminder of our beautiful ceremony.

Claire Ryan   http://theinformalflorist.com/

I had actually heard of Claire before I got engaged. I had seen her style of flower arrangements and loved it. But it was Eunice who reminded me and passed on her name. Claire was wonderful, so cheerful and eager to deliver my dream wedding. I loved working with her and hearing of her creative ideas. I had said I really wanted the flowers to be the main design focal point as it was a garden wedding and she really did nail my dream wedding. The flowers were perfect! I loved each and every piece. My bouquet was unreal, every time you turned it, it looked like a new bunch of freshly picked flowers, soft, feminine, yet colourful and vibrant. And the table arrangements were amazing! All in different little vessels – medicine jars, jugs, jam jars…. So eclectic and beautiful! And they lasted for a good week afterwards!

Noreen & Cliff    http://pavilionmarquees.com/glass-marquee/

Knowing that I wanted the wedding in the garden I went on the hunt for a great marquee company. I wanted the use the garden as much as possible, so open sides or glass sides. Noreen was so kind and helpful, she was on the ball and got back to me instantly, gave me loads of ideas and worked with me on the theme and look of the Marquee. Pavilion really went to great lengths to create the look I desired and it just blew me away… the Marquee was spectacular! It provided a warm yet spacious place for our wedding reception. The entire team were so professional and polite during the set-up, especially as the days leading up to the wedding saw me at my most stressed and tearful!! Ha ha! I’m sure they get it every week!

Wedding Dress – Store and Designer and Alterations

Myrtle Ivory Dublin http://www.myrtleivory.com/

Stephanie Allin Couture (Dress : Hayworth)  http://www.stephanieallin.net/

Phyllis – All Alterations   http://www.allalterationsservices.ie/

Men’s Suit Hire  – Aston Formal Wear http://www.astonformal.com/

Myrtle Ivory was my second store to visit and I have to say Suzanne really made me feel welcome and my memorable dress hunting stuck with me as I went around the other Dublin and nation-wide Bridal stores. Suzanne was so attentive and was also great at spotting what I was into and what I was not. Even though I tried a wide range of dresses, I always came back to Stephanie Allin. Suzanne and the girls in the store were so helpful and kept in touch with the lead up to the wedding. I loved the whole experience, especially as I got to meet Stephanie herself and I received a sketch of my dress! So special! The necklace was also from Myrtle Ivory… statement piece!

Stephanie Allin was so delightful, so cheerful and creative. I was blown away by the fit of Stephanie’s dresses and really it came down to two on the decision day. Both very different in theme… one would have been more boho, and was not white and the other, my dress was like an Oscar dress! So Glamorous!

Phyllis at All Alterations was a Trojan worker…. Unbelievable! Even though my dress was super detailed she managed to readjust and fit it to my shape. Phyllis actually reconstructed the bodice in two days the week of my wedding due to bridal stress and weight loss!

Make up

Alyson Smyth    http://alysonmakeup.ie/

Yes I am super lucky to have a sister-in-law as a renowned Irish Make-up Artist. As I have known Alyson for the last 10 years it was so great to have her as part of my wedding morning. She would have been there anyway but Alyson is super calm and a perfectionist, so you get incredible results with your make-up without any stress or worry. I always knew it would look flawless with Alyson! She also managed to do all 6 of us ladies and then finally got herself dolled up before walking down the aisle ahead of me! So proud to have well-known eyelash specialist and make-up artist as my sister-in-law!

Sian Sharkey   http://www.siansharkey.com/

Sian and Alyson work together on hundreds of Irish weddings a year, so I figured why break up a good team! Sian is so chilled, she would be chatting away and you think she is not paying attention to your hair, but then she takes out the mirror and voila! A master piece… every time! I must have been the fussiest bride when it came to hair. As I am not the best with my flat poker straight hair I had never really played with ideas and up dos, so I milked the trials and played with many looks, each time Sian turned out another fab ‘do’. You have to trust her on hair…. We ended up with our original up do in the end and it was perfect!

Beauty Treatments

Elaine’s Beauty   http://www.elainesbeauty.ie/

I had a bit of disaster skin leading up to the wedding, and Elaine’s weekly dermalogica facials had a massive impact on keeping my skin in control. She gave me loads of skin tips and samples so I kept my skin in good condition between treatments. Elaine also gave me some miraculous face masks for the night before and body massage oil and a few other mini treatments which added to my pampering pre-wedding night.

KOH – Ken   http://www.kohweddings.com/

Ken was excellent! Very easy going, no ordering around, excellent fly on the wall pics. Rob had two tasks to find the Photographer and the DJ. I think he did a great job. Ken made everyone feel relaxed… too relaxed you might say as all the messing got caught on camera… but they are the best memories! Being a press photographer predominantly,  meant we got unreal pap shots, capturing all our favourite memories! The finish of the photos was amazing as you can see!

Rudolphe, Best Day Productions   http://bestdayproductions.com/

I had wanted Rudolphe as our videographer from the very beginning…again one I had “stalked” prior to being engaged. I loved his style and the use of the Super 8 film. Once again he was so polite and we didn’t even notice he was there, therefore capturing some of the best bits. I cannot wait to see our video… as he is in high demand we do have a long wait for this piece of art! Will post when I get it!

DJ/ Music

Dermot, Velvet DJs www.velvetdjs.ie

Dermot was great, he is a character! As we opted for no band we wanted the music played throughout the day to keep a good vibe going in the background. Dermot stayed for the entire day, he set up the PA system for the String Quartet and ceremony mics, and he played chill out lounge music throughout the meal and then kept us all dancing our socks off on the dance floor. I don’t think I actually left the dance floor all night!

Vladimir and Classical Twist String Quartet   http://vladimirmusic.com/

Vladimir is a friend of a family friend and we have seen him play at other weddings, Christmas parties and busking in Dublin and in big concert halls! Vlad and Classical Twist played pre-ceremony, throughout the ceremony and during the drinks reception. Vladimir moves around interacting with guests and really playing to the vibe of the party!

Trad-One man-Band   Brian

My father-in-law used to be in an Irish Trad Band and, as Rob loves that music, we ended the night with a traditional Irish singsong! It was brilliant! We snuggled into the corner of the marquee, pulled up the seats and sang along to the beautiful well know Irish ballads. Some guests even had a go at singing their favourite songs…. It was a great way to wind down the wedding!

Furniture/ Linen / Hired Items

Jenny, Cater Hire http://caterhire.ie/

Jenny was a life saver! She just reassured me each time I contacted her about space planning and layouts and what furniture to go with. Caterhire were very accommodating and set up different layouts for us to think about. We got a tour of the warehouse to checkout different options of furniture. Very helpful!

Patrick and Dianne, Gotcha Covered   http://www.gotchacovered.ie/

Dianne and Patrick were great. I must have wrecked their head because I went from green linen, to blush, to sequins to satin….. Pinterest is a nightmare for that reason! But they remained calm and pulled out all the linens they had and eventually we went with a two sided linen, one side satin. Even though the tables were dressed with satin down and I had to ask them to flip them (Thank you btw) It gave a great glow and finish to the room.

Cake Pops/ Cake

Cake was made lovingly by Rob’s Aunt….. So Yummy, Choc Biscuit Cake

Cake Pops – Agatha Cake Field Avenue http://www.cakefieldavenue.ie/

Agatha made the individual cake pops for each place setting. These were a fab treat! Agatha gives a highly professional service and she had a delicious selection of cakes to choose from and even added all the guests’ names on the stick as a place setting!

Invitations/ Ceremony booklets/ Table Plans

Invitations Sinead Baker Girl Designs http://bakergirldesign.com/

I loved my invitations they captured a fun colourful and beautiful vibe.

Ceremony Booklets I did myself… hard work and team effort with family pitching in to help! Our Friend drew the little cartoon characters that we used on the booklets.

Paul Top Table Designs   http://www.toptabledesigns.ie/

Paul was fab, last min changes to the guest seating plan were changed the night before and he delivered the seating plan displayed on a wonderful ornate frame. I loved the little coffee table sized plans so people could view where they were seated without a massive crowd around the board.

Hen Party Planner

Kelly – Plan My Party http://www.planmyparty.ie/

Kelly is a great friend of mine, she is super organised and is on top of her game! Kelly helped me with my Bridal Shower, came up with a super theme 50’s House wives, which went down a treat… As I LOVE dressing up I got into full swing – hair make up and outfit complete with pinnie! Kelly gave me loads of advice and tips for the wedding which was a great help. The best thing about having a party planner was I literally didn’t have to think of a thing for the Bridal Shower, between my sister and Kelly they had it sorted. It was beyond my expectations. Kelly is known for her chic style, adorable accessories and table layouts. A MUST HAVE if you want a beautiful and stress free party!
